CI.h. c-vt '1 <br />~ BIA^10 <br /> <br />RE: Bingo at Hamline Center <br /> <br />Dear Mayor: <br /> <br />It is not to late to do the right thing and discontinue your endorsement of <br />this effort to relocate the Bingo Hall to Hamline Shopping Center. I have <br />absolutely nothing against gambling, but I am absolutely opposed to gambling <br />establishments in residential neighborhoods. It is of no matter that <br />proponents emphasize certain social and recreational aspects of the endeavor, <br />for even the mafia can boast of these. For that matter, there are endless <br />lists of individual and collective activities which provide recreation and <br />social interaction for our citizenry (see Bob Berschied). But more to the <br />point, the Hamline Shopping center is just that - a shopping center. And one <br />settled smack in a residential neighborhood. Give us a store, a restaurant, a <br />dental clinic, a hula-hoop outlet.
