WN
494
Mr. Schwartz advised that he would consult with Mr. Bilotta to get more specific
495
information on those zoning districts and their locations. Mr. Schwartz noted that
496
density as always a tough issue for suburban communities; and encouraged
497
members of the PWETC to provide public input for the pending Metropolitan
498
Council's housing goals as they deal with these and other issues as well.
499
500
Chair Stenlund reviewed those items required on the inventory (Steps #1, 11, 15,
501
and 24) opining that those were the most difficult ones to accomplish, and if
502
required it would change the total character of Rose 'lle to accomplish that
503
density. Therefore, Chair Stenlund questioned if one of those things created an
504
impediment to the decision process, the City f Roseville may not get out of Tier
505
1 of the GreenStep Program.
506
507 As an example with Goal #1 (building energy goals), Mr. Schwartz advised that
508 there was no specific energy use goals, but simply a tracking of information for
509 comparison purpose with other communities and the City of Roseville itself.
510
511 Mr. Johnson further clarified that Xcel Energy had already sent the information,
512 but the ball was in his court to enter all of the five years worth of data from all
513 City buildings onto the GreenStep website, which he found to be very doable.
514 Mr. Johnson opined that most of the required steps could be accomplished.
515
516 Regarding Step #15 (purchases and consumables), Mr. Schwartz advised that the
517 City currently had a decentralized purchasing policy which made it more difficult
518 to achieve that requirement.
519
520 At the request of Member Felice, Mr. Johnson addressed the intent of the
521 benchmarks and community engagement process for development, noting that
522 within the website itself, there was more detailed information on each of these.
523 Mr. Johnson opined that #24 was probably the hardest to attain, with the City
524 having done less work under its five subheads than the other goals, and needing
525 the most work, with #1 the closest to being accomplished.
526
527 Mr. Sch opined that the PWETC could provide assistance in advising how
528 best to eng ith the community to get the word out.
529
530 Member Gjerdin n expressed his unfamiliarity with some of the framework and
531 terms for green building, and sought additional information or a source to find this
532 information.
533
534 Mr. Johnson advised that once the website was more built out than currently done,
535 that information would become available on the GreenStep Program website and
536 would provide more information than the MPCA site. Once the resolution was
537 passed by the City Council and the website built, Mr. Johnson advised that the
538 City would have more access and more explanations available.
