Paschke, Thomas

From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:

Wozniak, Joe [Joe.Wozniak@Co.Ramsey.MN.US]
Friday, May 11,2001 9:59 AM
'thomas.paschke@ci.roseville.mn.us'
Roseville HHW satellite site info

Sorry I was not able to send you some information on our site and operations
yesterday; I know that was the deadline for your staff report for the
upcoming City Council meeting. Here are some items you may wish to
incorporate into your staff presentation anyway (in no particular order) :

1. All waste collected at the Roseville HHW site is packed for shipment
to either Bay West's year-round facility in Saint Paul or to Amazon
Environmental in Roseville (only the latex paint) by the end of each
operating day. No waste is stored on site overnight, nor is any equipment
stored on site overnight.
2. The Roseville HHW site is a key component of Ramsey County's efforts
to make HHW collection as convenient as possible. Not only is it located
near the County's geographic center, there is very little conflict with
other use of the site, which means we could operate the site during the
spring, summer, or fall. This allows greater flexibility in our annual HHW
program scheduling.
3. By far the highest percentage of site users reside in Roseville. If
the City Council approves the permit request, Ramsey County is prepared to
aggressively promote this collection site via direct mail to over 40,000
households, cable TV messages, water bill inserts, and other methods that
City staff might identify as effective.
4. If the City Council approves the permit request, Ramsey County would
intend to operate the site in June of this year, beginning Friday, June 8th,
and continuing on Fridays and Saturdays through the end of June.

I will have on hand some Roseville HHW site flyers that, if the site is
approved, can be distributed beginning that evening.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments about this information.

Thanks, and see you Monday.

1
