Section 401.01 (Ordinance 1072) requires
permits for improvements to cemeteries. Such a cemetery permit costs $100 and must be
approved by the City Council.

A resolution (#8616, adopted by the Council on October 15, 1990) designates the number, size
and improvements in each cemetery (see attached).

In the zoning section of the Code, Section 1002 defines a mortuary as a facility for dead body
preparations for final deposition and funeral services (cremation is not mentioned; embalming is
implied).

A funeral chapel provides funeral services (not embalming).

"*

A cemetery has no definition (but in practice, with Roseville, has everything including a chapel,
services, internment, crematory).

Uses R-l R-2 R-3 R-4 R-5 B-1 B-IB B-2 B-3
Mortuarv NP NP NP NP NP CUP P CUP P
Cemetery CUP NP CUP CUP CUP NP NP NP NP
Funeral CUP CUP NP CUP CUP NP NP NP NP
Chapel

\\Victoria\CommDev\Zoning and Codes Letters\CEMETERY USE NOTES.doc
