Students learn various point location systems: <br />anatomical, proportional, by palpation, anatomical Chinese inch (cun) and fen, <br />and the System of Nomenclature and Knowledge of Standards of the WHO <br />Scientific Group to Adopt a Standard of International Acupuncture <br />Nomenclature. Also included are the classification of points, forbidden points, <br />functions and indications of acupuncture points, the location of approximately <br />four hundred acupoints, and the location and trajectory of the twelve regular <br />meridians, eight extra meridians and fifteen collateral vessels. This course <br />focuses on the location, indications and contraindications, needle depths, general <br />anatomy, and clinical energetics of the points of the Lung, Large Intestine, <br />Stomach, Spleen and Heart meridians. <br /> <br />1203 <br /> <br />TCM Pathology <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />Covers the six exogenous, seven emotional, and miscellaneous pathogenic <br />factors. Pathological mechanisms are discussed in depth. It covers dishannony <br />of Yin and Yang, conflict between anti-pathogenic and pathogenic Chi, and <br />abnonnal descent or ascent of Chi. The mechanisms of common TCM patterns <br />are discussed. <br /> <br />1204 Anatomy & Physiology II <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />A continuation of 1104. The regulation, integration and maintenance of the <br />body are discussed. Subjects include the central nervous system, peripheral <br />nervous system, the sense organs, endocrine system, cardiovascular system, <br />immune system and the lymphatic system. <br /> <br />1205 Microbiology <br /> <br />I credits/IS hours <br /> <br />A fifteen-hour course which introduces the classification and morphological <br />features of pathogenic microorganisms and the immune system, including AIDS, <br />hepatitis, TB and other infectious diseases. Provides students with important <br />basic knowledge for the protection of the patient and practitioner in the clinical <br />setting. <br /> <br />26 <br />
