<br />1206 TCM Dietary Therapy I <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />Combines modem and traditional Chinese medicine nutritional principles. <br />Students are taught the roles of foods in health maintenance and foods as <br />therapeutic supplements, and the use of food as medicine. As diet is one of the <br />healing modalities of traditional Chinese medicine, this course covers the <br />categorization of common foods in terms of energy, temperature, flavor and <br />function, suggests dietary regimens for various health conditions, and discusses <br />the preparation of common foods and herbal recipes. A variety of techniques for <br />assessing a patient's dietary intake and nutritional imbalances will be covered. <br /> <br />1207 <br /> <br />Healing Qi Gong <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />Healing Qi Gong is an integrated mind-body healing method that has been <br />practiced with remarkable results in China for thousands of years. This course is <br />mainly focused on Medical Qi Gong for healing and illness prevention. Starting <br />with a general survey of several traditional Qi Gong systems practiced today, this <br />course will cover the philosophy, historical development and scientific <br />investigation of Qi Gong. The course consists of three components: <br />lecture/instruction, Qi Gong exercises and meditation. After taking this course <br />students can practice it for self-development or can teach it to patients to <br />enhance the effects of acupuncture and herbal treatment. <br /> <br />1208 Clinical Observation II <br /> <br />2 credits/60 hours <br /> <br />A continuation of 1108. <br /> <br />1301 <br /> <br />TCM Diagnostics II <br /> <br />2 credits/30 hours <br /> <br />A continuation of 1201. Introduces two important diagnostic skills in Chinese <br />medicine: tongue diagnosis and pulse diagnosis.
