<br />I ntr()dlUc~ir[}1![j <br /> <br />The American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) was <br />founded with the aid and support of many institutions and people in China and <br />the United States. The Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in <br />Jinan, China stands as "sister school" to the AAAOM, has served as models of <br />high-quality instruction methods, as well as providing invaluable advice on <br />curriculum, standards of practice, etc. It is expected that advanced AAAOM <br />students will be able to study and observe at Shandong University of Traditional <br />Chinese Medicine and its affiliated hospitals. Students also have the opportunity <br />to study and observe at Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and <br />the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Beijing. Faculty <br />members include highly skilled doctors of Oriental medicine from China, and <br />doctors of biomedicine who have received training in both Western and Oriental <br />medicine (either in the U.S., in China, or both). The Academy's faculty <br />members, with their strong theoretical background, clinical experience, and <br />technical skills, constitute a very diversified body of knowledge and expertise. <br />The American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine offers an <br />Oriental medicine program emphasizing acupuncture and Chinese herbology, <br />and developing specialization in traditional Chinese internal medicine, <br />gynecology, pediatrics, and dennatology, <br /> <br />Stattemtell1lt OJ[ IP'IlllIrjp)03te <br /> <br />The goal of the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine is to <br />offer a rigorous and thorough program of acupuncture and Oriental Medicine <br />and to train health care professionals who can bring high standards of practice in <br />complementary healing methods to our society. Graduates of our program will <br />have technical skills and theoretical knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine <br />including acupuncture, herbal medicine, medical Tui Na, dietary therapy, and <br />Tai Chi/Qigong. The AAAOM is dedicated to integrating the best of traditional <br />and contemporary medicine. Students will be grounded in the techniques and <br />theory of Oriental medicine, as well as in fundamental scientific concepts and <br />biomedicine.
