<br />development in order to continually advance traditional Chinese medicine and its <br />contributions into the new century. <br /> <br />Educational Objectives <br /> <br />The educational objectives of the American Academy of Acupuncture and <br />Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) are measurable qualities we expect our students to <br />obtain by the time they graduate from our program. These qualities include <br /> <br />1. Provide students a solid understanding of the theories and philosophy of <br />traditional Chinese medicine; <br />2. Develop students in the competent skills of patient assessment, clinic <br />diagnosis and making treatment plans; <br />3. Advance students in the effective administration of various treatment <br />modalities in traditional Chinese medicine; <br />4. Educate students with sufficient knowledge of Western medicine to enable <br />informed and responsible referrals; <br />5. Foster students in communication and interaction with peers and patients with <br />professional ethics and liabilities. <br /> <br />Location <br /> <br />The American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) is <br />located in the University Technology Center, just a few blocks from the <br />University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus. This center houses numerous <br />professional organizations and educational institutions. The school includes <br />4,000 square feet of space with 3 classrooms, a teaching clinic with 4 treatment <br />rooms, administrative offices, faculty offices, library, and herbal <br />pharmacy/bookstore. Classrooms at the school are equipped with acupuncture <br />charts and models, human anatomy models, and herbal samples. There is also a <br />student lounge area and gym area for Tai Chi and Qigong.
