coniferous hedges) along the south and east property lines. The fences may be a

minimum height of 6.0 feet and a maximum of 6.5 feet in height."

We do not agree or approve of this requirement (condition) as part of the Interim Use

Permit. Currently, there is a natural buffer of trees, shrubs, and foliage along the

majority of the south property line. Please refer to pictures taken from our property

looking north: (1) towards the front of their property with their house hardly visible;

(2) towards their back parking lot; and (3) looking west along the property line. Why

would there be a requirement to replace this natural buffer between our property with

an artificial barrier (i.e. fencing) or a different type of hedge?

Adding a fence or hedge along the south property line would be a detriment to us for it

would not change our view and would result in boxing in our property. The property line

and our property are several feet lower than their house and the paved parking lot. In

addition, we have a split-level house, so our living area and deck are elevated. The view

from our windows and deck would be above the fence - yet the fence would give

the visual effect of enclosing our property. We enjoy the openness the current foliage

and trees provide as a divider and find it adequate protection between our properties.

In addition, our house, their house, the parking lot and driveway were all constructed

parallel to Sherren Street. However, the property line runs at a diagonal. With the

current foliage divider, the diagonal property line is not visible to the eye. A fence

constructed along the property line at a diagonal would look very strange when both

houses, the parking lot and driveway are parallel to Sherren Street. This would not

enhance the visual appearance of the neighborhood.

2
