<br />",.. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR PLANNING COMMISSION/CITY COUNCIL ACTION <br /> <br />DATE: 1 0-09-96 <br />ITEM NO.: 2868 <br /> <br />Planner: <br /> <br />Manager Received: <br /> <br />Agenda Section: <br /> <br />j)~ wi ~ 6(c) <br /> <br />Item Description: Vacation of a portion of the unimproved dedicated and City <br />owned right-of-way of lona Lane. <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />· An existing unimproved dedicated and City owned right-of-way of lona Lane, <br />lying south of the former Midwest Motor Express site, north of the Old Dominion <br />Truck Terminal site, west of the Hyman Freightways site and east of Cleveland <br />Avenue. <br /> <br />· The right-of-way was part of the proposed alignment for Twin Lakes Parkway. <br /> <br />· The City is considering a Comprehensive Plan amendment to relocate Twin <br />Lakes Parkway south of its planned location. <br /> <br />· The right-of-way will not be needed for public street purposes if Twin Lakes <br />Parkway is relocated. <br /> <br />· Vacation of the unneeded right-of-way will provide additional land for parking, <br />landscaping, or development. <br /> <br />· A easement for an existing sanitary sewer and City water and storm sewer lines <br />will need to be obtained as part of the vacation. <br /> <br />Development Summary: <br /> <br />The Twin Lakes Business Park portion of the City's Comprehensive Plan calls for the <br />construction of a new roadway called Twin Lakes Parkway which runs from Snelling <br />Avenue to the east to 135W to the west. This roadway would be included within a <br />portion of the unimproved, dedicated, and City owned right-of-way of lona Lane. No <br />roadway exists within the right-of-way currently, but a large interceptor sanitary sewer <br />line exists within the right-of-way. <br /> <br />The City is currently considering an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to relocate <br />the proposed future Twin Lakes Parkway to the south of its current planned location. <br />This would eliminate the need for the lona Lane right-of-way with the exception of the <br /> <br />1 <br />
