)

,

~

PET I T ION

We, the undersigned residents of West Burke east of
Lexington, respectfully petition the Roseville Village
Council as follows:
1. That no parking be permitted on West Burke
adjacent to the Bridgeman and Calvary Baptist
Church properties.
-2. That no vehicle traffic be permitted between
West Burke and the Bridgeman properties, and
that installation of blockades to prevent such
traffic be required.

The undersigned residents of West Burke so petition
the Roseville Village Council for the following good
and pertinent reasons:
1. The affected portion of West Burke is dead end,
with outlet only to Lexington Avenue on the
west. Because of heavy traffic on Lexington,
and the nearby County Road B intersection, it
is often difficult to enter Lexington from
Burke. In the winter this problem is compounded
because of the incline where Burke enters
Lexington. When road conditions are slippery
autos must approach this incline with sufficient
momentum to enter Lexington without coming to
a complete stop. A flow of traffic from Bridge-
man's would seriously increase problems at
this intersection.
2. There are many children on the affected portion
of Burke. Tricycle, bicycle, motorbike, go-
cart and motorcycle traffic is heavy, especially
in and around the Baptist Church parking lot.
Traffic entering and leaving Bridgeman's via
Burke would create an added hazard to young
lives and limbs.
3. Prohibiting curb cuts from Bridgeman's to
Burke would help hold Burke-to-Parker traffic
through the Baptist Church parking lot to a
minimum. Burke residents occasionally use
this outlet now when the Burke exit to Lexington
is congested.
4. Burke residents, when faced with congestion at
their only outlet, would be tempted to drive
through the Bridgeman parking lot if curb cuts
are permitted, thus creating a through-traffic
hazard to Bridgeman customers.
5. Burke residents are even now plagued with
drivers who find themselves on a dead-end
street, and proceed to turn around in drive-
ways and on lawns of residents. It is feared
that this nuisance would increase if the
Bridgeman parking lot is open to Burke.

August 23, 1971

(
