CASE NUMBER: 111~
June 7~ 1978 -..,

e

Page Two

6. The applicant is also applying for a variance to the location of the sign.
Attached is a xerox copy of the sign~ which is little more than a direction
sign on a cantelevered post. As we recall~ the sign area is approximately
48 square feet~ whereas 70 square feet is allowed in the 8-18 District.
Because of the grade on the site (sharr drop towards Highway 36 Frontage
Road). They have asked that the sign be placed within five feet of the
right-of-way. You will note that there is considerable distance from the
right-of-way to the service road itself (see attached site plan). This is
because the Highway Department acquired a considerable amount of land in this
area to accommodate the change in grade and thus we have a very wide
boulevard. Under these circumstances~ we suggest a variance from the 30
foot setback to the five foot setback requested is appropriate.

..

~.I_ :~L!__
