DRAFT MINUTE EXCERPTS
NOVEMBER 14, 2001 PLANNING COMMISSION

b. Plannin2: File 3349: A request by James Telstad, 2993 Fairview Avenue, for variances to
Section 1004.01 (Accessory Buildings) of the Roseville City Code, to replace an existing
shed.

Chair John Rhody opened the hearing and requested staff to provide a verbal summary of the
project report dated November 14,2001.

Thomas Paschke reviewed the request. He noted that garden sheds do not have to meet the lot
coverage issue. The original shed was destroyed by a past winter snow load. There is screening;
the adjacent owner supports the request. The staff recommended approval.

Mr. James Telstad, 2993 Fairview, stated the new shed would be a constructed woodshed
matching the garage. Mr. Telstad said there was no neighborhood opposition.

Member Olson asked about height (9 feet), which meets the Code.

There being no public comment, Chair Rhody closed the hearing.

Motion: Member Cunningham moved, seconded by Member Rhody, to recommend approval
(approval with modifications or denial) of a 2-1/2 foot side yard variance from Section
1004.01A8 of the Roseville City Code to allow construction of a 10 foot by 10 foot (100 sq. ft)
garden shed on property located at 2993 Fairview Avenue, based on the comments and findings
in Section 3 and 4, and the conditions of Section 6 of the project report dated November 14, 2001,
together with the condition that materials for the garden shed are to be of a wood material similar
to the garage.

Ayes: 5
Nays: 0

Motion carried.
