Metro Transit has received federal transportation funds to assist in the construction
of additional parking at Rosedale with the primary purpose of increasing the capacity of the park and ride facilities.
The ramp can also serve as additional parking for future Rosedale expansion or to relieve current holiday and heavy
shopping cycles.

Based upon your questions at the meeting the following is the most current information we have regarding the
implementation of the grant and the expectations of Metro Transit to meet their current and long term needs. After
review of this infoTIl1ation please contact me to arrange a follow up meeting with Metro Transit representatives and
Rosedale representative, Michael Dzaman.

Grant Requirements - TIle primary purpose of the grant is to increase park and ride capacity to improve the
regional transit system. TIle grant award of $6.5 million includes $1 million for reconfiguring the parking lot to
accommodate 12 buses and engineering and construction management fees and $5.5 million applied to the
construction of a parking ramp. It is estimated that the $5 million will fund a 275 stall parking ramp to increase
Metro Transit's capacity from 200 existing to 450. Even though the grant is designated to pay for the ramp, the
park and ride stalls do not need to be taken by the ramp.

Grant Deadline: TIle grant dollars must be accounted for with the award of a contract for construction by the fall of
2004.

Metro Transit's Park & Ride Needs -Currently there are 200 stalls that the park and ride facility uses in Rosedale.
There is a current need for an additional 150 stalls immediately with the future goal to provide a total of 500 stalls
to meet the future transit needs in the area.

The plans previously provided single deck parking ramp with the capacity from 580 -750 stalls at a construction
cost of $11 12 million. TIlese plans could be designed to only construct the 275 spaces that the grant would cover
with the expectation that adding on to the deck at a later date would be the responsibility of Rosedale.

Q:\General Conespondence\CathyB\fu Rosedale Hub Ltr 092101.doc
