requested that the next Council meeting on this matter
be set so we could be present to state our concerns.
We were assured that the meeting would be scheduled so
that we would have that opportunity. The Council
meeting date of June 11 makes us wonder about the
conduct of Council affairs.
The letter over your signature that we received
refers to a 4-ft set back. Cheney's petition did not
request a 4-ft set back; neither did Cheney request it
at the meeting where he had the opportunity to do so.
It was done unilaterally by the presiding officer. We
find this preferential action strange.
At the May 4 meeting, we provided a written
statement to the presiding officer and we had time for
just a brief statement of our concerns. The presiding
officer did not read out our letter for the benefit of
those who were to vote at the conclusion of that
meeting. In effect those voting did so without any
knowledge of the specific details. For example, no one
acknowledged having personally examined the site of
the hazardous driveway resulting from the petitioner's
design. No one of those voting seemed to know that all
the drainage will have to be on Acorn Road with
nothing at all draining through County B.
We maintain that our concerns regarding safety,
drainage and the size of the structure in relation to
the size of the site were ignored. We further maintain
that more than one of the six criteria on which
favorable Council action depends continue to be in
violation.
Please acknowledge your receipt of this e-mail
with an e-mail reply, as we are traveling and can not
receive postal mail. We can be reached for e-mail
reply at <ram@me.umn.edu>

Sincerely yours,
Subbiah and Vivian S.
