A. <br />Agenda Section: <br />ORDINANCE <br />FINAL READING: Ordinance amending Section 703.05 regarding <br />Bus Shelter installations (P.F. 3389) <br /> <br /> <br />Item Description: <br /> <br />1.0 REQUESTED ACTION: <br /> <br />1.1 In April, Craig Piernot, Outdoor Promotions, Inc. (from Denver) presented to the City Council a <br />proposed bus shelter improvement plan along bus routes in Roseville and possibly throughout the <br />35W Coalition Cities. The applicant is working throughout the Metro Area on similar issues. <br />Staff has prepared ordinance revisions to allow for "bus shelters" as well as "bus benches" to be <br />located along bus routes. <br /> <br /> <br />PROJECT REVIEW HISTORY: <br />. Application submitted on February, 2002 <br />. No 60 day requirement <br />. Council Review: March-April, 2002 <br />. Staff Review: Approval with conditions - February and March, 2002 <br />. Planning Commission: Hearing/Recommended Approval (5-0) June 5, 2002 <br />. City Council Action: First Reading of Ordinance - June 17, 2002 <br />. City Council Action: Second/Final Reading of Ordinance - July 15,2002 <br /> <br /> <br />2.0 SUMMARY OF REQUESTS: <br /> <br />2.1 In June the Council approved a first reading and requested further review and second reading on <br />July 15th. <br /> <br />2.2 The Staff, with help from the city departments and the applicant, has prepared the necessary <br />changes to the City Codes which allows and regulates bus shelters and associated signage similar <br />to the current bus bench regulations. <br /> <br />3.0 STAFF AND PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />3.1 The Planning Staff recommended approval of the ordinance as a means to increase accessibility <br />to the public transportation system. <br />3.2 The Planning Commission held the required hearing on June 5, 2002. No public comment was <br />offered by those in attendance. The Planning Commission recommended approval of the <br />ordinance amendment (5-0). <br /> <br />4.0 SUGGESTED ACTION: <br /> <br />4.1 Hold the second and final reading approving the ordinance (Version 1 as previously <br />submitted by City Attorney; or, Version 2 as previously submitted with amendments <br />proposed by Craig Piernot on 7/10/02) after which it will become effective on the date of <br />publication. <br /> <br />PF3389 ReA - 061702 Page 1 <br />
