<br />I ORDINANCE NO. <br />2 <br />3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7, SECTION 703. 05 (BENCHES IN <br />4 RIGHT) OF WAY AND TITLE 10, SECTION 1009.03 (SIGNS) BY ADDING <br />5 LANGUAGE WHICH DEFINES BENCHES AND BYS SHELTERS AS BUS <br />6 STOP STRUCTURES WITH SIGNAGE THAT THE CITY MAY APPROVE IN <br />7 RlGHTOFWAY <br />8 <br />9 THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br />10 <br />II SECTION 1. Purpose. The Roseville City Code, Title 7, Section 703.05, Benches in <br />12 Right of Way is hereby amended by adding or revising language necessary to define <br />13 shelters as pus stop structures which, after receiving proper permits, may be placed in the <br />14 Right of Way. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide added public safety, comfort, <br />15 cleanliness, lighting and access to public transit stops. <br />16 <br />17 SECTION 2. Section 703.05 is hereby amended as follows: <br />18 <br /> <br />19 703.05: BENCHES BUS STOP STRUCTURES IN RIGHT OF <br />20 WAY: <br /> <br /> <br />21 No bench or ffils-shelter may be placed or maintained in a public right of way without <br />22 securing a permit from the Public Works Director and the payment of an annual license <br />23 fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00). The number. size. and locations of all benches and <br />24 shelters shall be in accordance with the City ofRoseville/Metro Transit Bus Route Plan. <br />25 A permit shall not be issued unless the bench or 00& shelter and its placement comply <br />26 with the following conditions: <br /> <br />27 A. Bus Stops: A bench or 00& shelter may only be placed at a bus stop on an established <br />28 bus route. <br /> <br /> <br />29 B. Location: A bench or 00& shelter shall be placed no nearer than four feet (4') from the <br />30 roadway curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not obstruct a <br />31 pathway. <br /> <br />32 C. Number: No more than one bench or 00& shelter per corner may be placed at a <br />33 roadway intersection. <br /> <br />34 D. Proximity To Other Benches or Shelters: No bench or 00& shelter may be placed <br />35 within one thousand feet (1,000') of any other bench on a the same side of the road" <br />36 except as otherwise specifically authorized by the Public Works Director. <br /> <br />37 Size: .The maximum size of a bench shall be three and one-half feet (3 1/2') high. <br />38 seven feet (7') long and three feet (3') wide erected upon a concrete pad of maximum <br />39 eight feet (8') length and four feet (4') width with walkway to the curb or roadway <br /> <br />~rm~~_======J <br /> <br />!
