Plannin2 Commission Meetin2. June 5. 2002:

j. Plannin2 File 3389: Request by the City of Roseville to amend Section
703.05 (Benches in Public Right-of-Way) of the Roseville City Code by
clarifying language pertaining to benches and adding regulations for bus
shelters.

Chairman Duncan opened the hearing and requested Community Development
Director Dennis Welsch provide a summary of the project report dated June 5,
2002.

In April, Craig Piernot, Outdoor Promotions, Inc. (from Denver) presented to the
City Council a proposed bus shelter improvement plan along bus routes in
Roseville and possibly throughout the 35W Coalition Cities. The applicant is
working throughout the Metro Area on similar issues. An ordinance has been
prepared with revisions to allow for "bus shelters" as well as "bus benches" to be
located along commercial bus routes.

Member Bakeman asked if there was a transit route plan (plan and bus stops
throughout the community are available).

There being no further comment Chair Duncan closed the hearing.

Motion: Motion by Member Mulder, seconded by Member Bakeman, to
recommend that the City Council approve the Ordinance to allow for bus
shelters as well as bus benches to be located along bus routes in the City.

Ayes: 5
Nays: 0
Motion carries.
