<br />1 ORDINANCE NO. <br />2 <br />3 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 7, SECTION 703. 05 (BENCHES IN <br />4 RIGHT) OF \VAY AND TITLE 10, SECTION 1009.03 (SIGNS) BY ADDING <br />5 LANGUAGE WHICH DEFINES BENCHES AND BYS SHELTERS AS BUS <br />6 STOP STRUCTURES WITH SIGNAGE THAT THE CITY MAY APPROVE IN <br />7 RIGHT OF WAY <br />8 <br />9 THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE ORDAINS: <br />10 <br />11 SECTION 1. Purpose. The Roseville City Code, Title 7, Section 703.05, Benches in <br />12 Right of Way is hereby amended by adding or revising language necessary to define <br />13 shelters as bus stop structures which, after receiving proper pem1its, may be placed in the <br />14 Right of Way. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide added public safety, comfort, <br />15 cleanliness, lighting and access to public transit stops. <br />16 <br />17 SECTION 2. Section 703.05 is hereby amended as follows: <br />18 <br /> <br />19 703.05: BENCHES BUS STOP STRUCTURES IN RIGHT OJ1"' WAY: <br /> <br />20 No bench or Bus-shelter may be placed or maintained in a public right of way without <br />21 securing a permit from the Public Works Director and the payment of an annual license <br />22 fee of twenty five dollars ($25.00). The number, size, and locations of all benches and <br />23 ~h.ylters shall be in accordance with the City of Roseville/Metro Transit Bus Route Plan. <br />24 A permit shall not be issued unless the bench or ffi:l.s shelter and its placement comply <br />25 with the following conditions: <br /> <br />26 A. Bus Stops: A bench or ffi:l.s shelter may only be placed at a bus stop on an established <br />27 bus route. <br /> <br />28 B. Location: A bench or ffi:l.s shelter shall be placed no nearer than four feet (4') from the <br />29 roadway curb or the edge of the roadway where no curb exists and shall not obstruct a <br />30 pathway. <br /> <br />31 C. Number: No more than one bench or ffits shelter per corner may be placed at a <br />32 roadway intersection. <br /> <br />33 D. Proximity To Other Benches or Shelters: No bench or ffi:l.s shelter may be placed <br />34 within one thousand feet (1,000') of any other bench on a th~.fi.<:!me side of the <br />35 road\J..Lay, except as otherwise specifically authorized by the Public Works Director. <br /> <br />36 E. Size: The maximum size ofa bench shall be three and one-half feet (3 1/2') high, <br />37 seven feet (7') long and three feet (3') wide erected upon a concrete pad of maximum <br />38 eight feet (8') length and four feet (4') width with walkway to the curb or roadway <br />39 edge. The maximum size of a ffi:l.s shelter shall be ten (10) feet in height, fourteen <br />
