<br />1 Extract of Draft Minutes from Planning Commission meeting of 9/4/02: <br />2 <br />3 a. Planninl! File 3420: Request by James Wrede, 2078 Irene Street, for a <br />4 Variance to Section 1004.01A6 (Maximum Total Surface Area) of the <br />5 Roseville City Code to allow construction of an addition to the rear of <br />6 the home. <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 Chair Duncan opened the hearing and requested City Planner Thomas Paschke <br />10 provide a summary of the project report dated September 42002. <br />11 <br />12 Thomas Paschke explained that James & Lucy Wrede submitted an application <br />13 for a 638 square foot variance to Section 1004.01A6 (Maximum Total Surface <br />14 Area) to allow major home improvements (dining room, porch large family <br />15 room, and second store addition) to their home at 2078 Irene Street. The Wrede <br />16 home was constructed in 1956 prior to the adoption of the current zoning section <br />17 to the City Code. <br />18 <br />19 The proposed addition to the existing principal structure's footprint (dining room, <br />20 porch, and family room) adds 705 square feet to the existing footprint, causing <br />21 the parcel to be 638 square feet out of compliance with the 30% requirement of <br />22 Section 1004.01A6. <br />23 <br />24 Staff recommended approval of the variance with four conditions. Mr. Wrede <br />25 stated the staff report was acceptable. <br />26 <br />27 There being no further comments, Chair Duncan closed the hearing. <br />28 <br />29 Motion: Member Mulder moved, seconded by Member Peper, to <br />30 recommend approval of a 638 square foot (6%) variance to Section <br />31 1004.01A6 of the Roseville City Code for James & Lucy Wrede, to allow <br />32 certain home and site improvements at 2078 Irene Street, based on the <br />33 findings in Section 5 and conditions of Section 6 of the project report dated <br />34 September 4, 2002. <br />35 <br />36 Ayes: 7 <br />37 Nays: 0 <br />38 Motion carried. <br />39 This matter will be heard by the City Council on September 23,2002. <br />40 <br />
