<br />detached single-family homes have three or fewer bedrooms. Only 20% of the <br />homes have four bedrooms. <br /> <br />Garages. Garages tend to store more than cars these days and seem to be growing <br />faster than house size. Almost 25% of all single-family homes have a one-stall <br />garage or less, while 70% have two car garages. Nearly 60% (5,082) of homes <br />have an attached garage, while 11 % have tuck-under garages. Detached garages <br />(27% of the total) are usually in the rear yard of narrow lots and in combination <br />with long driveways, take up as much (or more) impervious surface than the house <br />itself. <br /> <br />New Homes. Market research from area homebuilders and the Urban Land <br />Institute has found that the majority of young families want newer homes in areas <br />with newer schools.
