<br />Bloomington City Chapter 19 page 7 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br />this Code. <br /> <br />(e) Special Provisions - <br /> <br />(1) All buildings erected on lands within Limited Business (B-1) Zoning Districts <br />shall be of steel, reinforced concrete, Type III construction, masonry <br />construction, or an equivalent or better. No building shall be constructed of <br />Type V construction. Exterior wall surfaces of all buildings shall be faced <br />with face brick, stone, architectural concrete, cast-in-place or pre-cast <br />concrete panel, or an equivalent or better. Up to 15 percent of any wall <br />surface of a building may be wood or metal used as architectural trim, as <br />approved by the Issuing Authority. <br /> <br />(2) No permit for development within the B-1 District shall be issued by the City <br />until final site and building plans have been reviewed by the Planning <br />Commission and approved by the City Council, subject to the provisions of <br />Section 19.40.12 of this Code. <br /> <br />(3) Structure height shall be regulated pursuant to Section 19.47 of this Code. <br /> <br />(f) Sign Regulations. RETAIL BUSINESS (B-2) DISTRICTS. <br /> <br />(a) Purpose - To provide for and encourage compact centers for retail sales and <br />services by grouping businesses in patterns of workable relationships; to minimize <br />the blighting influence on surrounding residential neighborhoods by limitations and <br />control of uses permitted; to exclude highway-oriented and other businesses that <br />would tend to disrupt the shopping center or its circulation patterns, or tend to <br />disturb neighborhood stability. <br />(b) Permitted Uses - <br />(1) Retail shopping uses - stores and shops selling household goods over a <br />counter or selling personal services. Included are stores selling antiques, art <br />and school supplies, auto accessories and installation when within a <br />completely enclosed building, bakery goods, bicycles, building materials <br />that are within completely enclosed buildings, candy, camera and <br />photographic supplies, carpets and rugs, china and glassware, clothing and <br />costumes, dry goods, foods, electric and household appliances, furniture, <br />fur goods, garden supplies (year-around operation only), hardware, hobby <br />supplies, jewelry, leather goods and luggage, Class I and Class II motor <br />vehicle and boat sales that are within a completely enclosed building, <br />musical instruments, office supplies, paint and wallpaper, phonograph <br />records, shoes, sporting goods, tobacco goods, and toys. Included are the <br />following personal services: licensed therapeutic massage enterprises, <br />barber shops, beauty shops, laundries and dry cleaning, photography <br />studios, picture framing, locksmith shops, and repair incidental to sale of <br />goods listed above. <br />(2) Banks and financial institutions. <br />(3) Medical and dental offices and laboratories. <br />(4) Hospitals, sanitariums and rest homes. <br />(5) Offices, business and professional. <br />(6) Public and public utility uses. <br /> <br />http://www.ci.bloomington.mn.us/code/Code 19 _7 .html <br /> <br />01/16/2003 <br />
