We respectfully address
these concerns and make the follo~ing recommendat1ons:

CONCERN #1. The p~oposal to construct the street as a daad-end
without a cul-de-sac or a tee at the end, presents
a number of problems for operating fire apparatus.
~,ce into the c~plex, the fire apparatus would be
required to back f'ut ~nto County Road "e". This
presents a very dan%erous situation for the trucks,
fire fighters and civilians in the area observing the
fire Qperations and any vehicles parked on the street.

A proposal to back the fire trucks into the private
driveway and t~rn around also presents many problems
aa thcre are no guarantees that there will not be
any vehicles parked in the driveway. If the drive-
ways are built to a 7 ton standard, damage to the
drive andlor landscaping Is still possible and con-
sidering this is private property, the City may en-
~ounter damage su~:s for the resulting dacage.

With heavy snow piles along the streets., as we are
experiencing this winter, further increasec the
danger, unless parking is totally banned on the
street. This cay present a severe hardship on the
residents and their visitors.

RECOMMENDATION Dl.

If possible, construct the street as a through street
at the ti~e of construction. If this 1s not possible.
construct a 50' radius cul-de-sac at the east end of
the street. An acceptable alternative would be a 30'
wide X 100' leng tee at the east end of the street.
The cul-de-sac or the tee would permit not only emer-
gency vehicles but others (rubbish collection trucks.
delivery trucks and others) to turn around without
using private driveways. This size would allow the
ladder truck or the snorkel to turn around safely with
a minimum of diffic~lty.
