Also, the Roseville community is represented by the St. Paul Pioneer Press with local articles
published weekly. In initial discussions with local reporter there is interest in covering the
Charette process if it is awarded to the City of Roseville. In addition, local cable and community
publication of the process would allow a cross section of participation from local residents and
business representatives.

Roseville's goal is to create a future vision for I, I 00 acres which includes and surrounds the
Rosedale Regional Mall and the older subregional Bar-Mar mall, but also includes various types
of housing, support services, and two new business parks with up to 4 million square feet of new
space and almost a billion dollars in new value. Surrounding and crossing through the center of
this proposed project area in Roseville are state and federal highways as well as county arterials -
all of which present challenges in land use and road design and capacity. Roseville's proximity
and working relationship with the City of St. Paul as the north metro's employment center creates
an opportunity for the first ring cities to assist in the strengthening the economics of the
metropolitan center cities.

Roseville is excited to be the focus of a Knight Program in Community Building event. We have
excellent GIS, digital facilities, and planning staff and partners as well as a foundation of land
use, transportation and demographic studies recently completed for the 7 community I-35W
Coalition. Please feel free to contact me if you need further information regarding the community
that will help in your decision regarding the 2002 Program.

Sincerely

CITY OF ROSEVILLE

Dennis Welsch
Community Development Director
651-490-2232
c1enn i s. welsch(Z1ki. rosevi lie. mn. us

Attachment:

City Council Resolution
Support Letters
Site Map
