<br /> <br /> <br />440.05 Raising of Animals for Pelts. The raising of wild and exotic animals for pelts may be <br /> <br />permitted under a special use permit. The applicant for the permit shall provide the City with <br /> <br />proof of insurance including public liability insurance with limits of not less than listed in the <br /> <br />fee schedule appendix ofthis code. The insurance shall provide coverage for liability resulting <br /> <br />from the ownership or possession of the animal(s) being permitted. <br /> <br />440.06 Impounding of Animals. Any wild or exotic animal kept in violation of this section <br /> <br />may be impounded by the City. Notice of the impoundment shall be provided to the owner. <br /> <br />Unless the impounded animal is reclaimed within five regular business days and either <br /> <br />removed from the City within the time limit established by the Council or permitted by a <br /> <br />special use permit, or unless the owner petitions the District Court for a detennination that the <br /> <br />animal is exempt from the provisions ofthis section, the animal may be destroyed or sold. Any <br /> <br />person who reclaims an impounded animal shall pay the cost ofthe impoundment at the time <br /> <br />of the animals release. <br /> <br />440.07 Existing Wild and Exotic Animals. Anyone keeping or maintaining a wild or exotic <br /> <br />animal at the time this code is adopted shaH have ninety (90) days in which to comply with the <br /> <br />provisions ofthis section. The Council may grant an extension beyond the ninety days upon a <br /> <br />showing of good cause, but in no case shall the extension be viewed as a permanent exemption <br /> <br />from the requirements of this section. <br /> <br />4 -19 <br /> <br />Adopted <br /> <br />, 2001 <br />
