Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,April 13, 2015 <br /> Page 13 <br /> Councilmember Etten noted other recommendations on page 5 that the Parks & <br /> Recreation Commission had provided and sought clarification if all or which <br /> pieces were considered part of the above-referenced motion. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte clarified that she was not opposed to anything on that <br /> list, with the addition of education as a new item; and in recognizing that the crea- <br /> tion of a citywide comprehensive deer management plan that may take longer, she <br /> would prefer to see this ordinance sooner. <br /> Mayor Roe clarified that an ordinance would require creation of a wildlife man- <br /> agement plan. <br /> If he was to support this motion, Councilmember Etten clarified that he would <br /> support the complete recommendations of the Parks & Recreation Commission as <br /> previously presented on March 9, 2015, and detailed on page 5 of their report, in <br /> addition to his support for adding the community educational component. <br /> Councilmember McGehee noted that staff may need some direction from the City <br /> Council regarding the hunt, and questioned how they could do so. <br /> Mayor Roe suggested that be part of the discussion and added to their initial rec- <br /> ommendations. <br /> Councilmember Etten noted that page 3 of 5 addressed that specifically. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte clarified that her intent was for the motion to include all <br /> of the recommendations as a preliminary to moving on to the next step in deter- <br /> mining the type of hunt that might be used. <br /> Councilmember Etten noted that most other things were not allowed in the State <br /> of Minnesota. <br /> Mayor Roe suggested that fine of detail did not need to be addressed by the body <br /> tonight. <br /> Councilmember Etten cautioned this City Council not making presumptions for <br /> future City Councils in a few years. <br /> Councilmember Laliberte stated that she could not vote on specific language until <br /> she actually had that language in front of the body. <br /> Councilmember Willmus spoke in support of specifically including Parks & Rec- <br /> reation staff as well. <br />
