We'll start the tour at the <br />newly built Lexington Park building site and then we'll provide transportation to the Roseville <br />Skating Center and learn about our geothermal refrigeration systems. After that well head <br />over to Muriel Sahlin Arboretum grounds and visit several other facility and natural resource <br />locations. <br />Fire IDelpairtr ent <br />Four Sessions <br />Session One I Tuesday, September 22 1 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. I Fire Station <br />Home Fire Prevention for the Whole Family (Bring the Kids!) <br />We've designed a special evening with two classes: one for kids and one for adults. Kids will <br />learn about fire prevention in a kid -friendly setting. Adults will get an in depth look at fire <br />dangers and what you can do to keep safe including installing smoke detectors and CO <br />detectors, how to use a fire extinguishers and other fire safety techniques. <br />Session Two I Wednesday, September 23 1 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. I Fire Station <br />Roseville Fire Department- Operations 101 <br />Get a behind the scenes look at how the Roseville Fire Department works. Find out where the <br />firefighters sleep, get a tour of the fire station, ride on a fire truck, and see what it feels like to <br />use a fire hose. This is a must see, hands-on, firefighting experience. <br />Session Three I Thursday, September 24 1 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. I Fire Station <br />When Disaster Strikes <br />Whether a storm, fire, or disaster that takes you off the grid, you should be prepared for the <br />worst, and hope for the best. We'll provide you with basic information to prepare your family <br />before a disaster hits. Get basic training on how to properly use a fire extinguisher, search and <br />rescue, shutting off electric, water and gas utilities, and basic first aid. <br />Session Four I Tuesday, September 29 1 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. I Fire Station <br />Fire 101 <br />What are the leading causes of fire? What can you do to prevent a fire? What do you do <br />if you have a fire? Lots of questions, and we've got the answer. Firefighters will provide useful <br />information to help a fire victim to deal with insurance companies, salvage companies, and fire <br />investigators. We'll provide insight to document your experience and what you need to do to <br />get on the road to recovery. <br />Session One I Thursday, October 8 1 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. I Chambers City Hall <br />Street Smarts - Pavement Management (first hour) <br />Bituminous, mill and overlay, asphalt — what are we talking about? Learn how the City maintains nearly 120 miles of streets. Get an overview <br />of Rosevilles pavement management strategies and learn everything from annual maintenance to full road reconstruction. <br />Sanitary Sewers (secondhour) <br />You flush and it disappears, but do you ever wonder what really happens? Find out how Roseville maintains over 145 miles of sanitarysewer <br />pipes with more 9, 000 service laterals connected to that system. Learn about the issues the City faces in maintaining this infrastructure. <br />November <br />Ccmmunliity I[)evelllcllpment IDel airtir eine <br />Two Sessions <br />Session One I Thursday, November 5 1 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. I Willow Room at City Hall <br />Rental Licensing in Roseville (first hour) <br />With a population of 33,600, Roseville has nearly 5, 000 rental units. What does that mean for our city? Well take a photographic look at <br />problems that can develop in a first -ring suburb if a city does not proactively manage its housing stock. Then we'll explain Roseville's Rental <br />License Program and why it is necessary to keep our city strong. <br />Public Nuisance Code Enforcement/Neighborhood Enhancement Program (secondhour) <br />What are the top complaints we get about code violations? Get an overview of the most common public nuisances and what that means to <br />the community. Learn why most cities have a code enforcement program and find out how Roseville's Code Enforcement Program works. <br />We'll provide photographic examples of problems that can develop if a city does not have a vigorous public -nuisance code enforcement <br />program. Come also learn how you can maintain property appeal and property value with the Neighborhood Enhancement Program! <br />Session Two I Thursday, November 19 1 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. I Willow Room at City Hall <br />Planning, Zoning and Development: How, Why and Where in Roseville <br />Who decides what gets built and where it gets built in Roseville? The Comp Plan and the City Code spells it out.... it's a little more complicated than <br />that. Rosevil/es Planning and Zoning Division guides the city planning process. We'll explain all thats involved to meetour infrastructure, housing, <br />economic development, recreation, environmental protection, transportation and other needs to remain a vibrant community.
