�:i � <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Department Approval <br />Item Description: Discuss Draft Policy Priority Planning Document <br />BACKGROUND <br />Date: June 8, 2015 <br />Item No.: 15.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />As part of the work done in February, the City Council and Department Heads identified five strategic <br />goals to focus on during the next two years. They were: <br />• Civic Engagement <br />• Housing and Redevelopment <br />• Effective Governance <br />• Organizational Effectiveness <br />� • Infrastructure Sustainability <br />City Council and Department Heads also identified lcey outcome indicators and measurable targets for <br />each strategic priority. Leadership team staff worked on identifying strategic initiatives. The draft <br />�� report and presentation about the strategic initiatives were presented to the City Council on May 11. <br />(See Summary Sheet dated May 11 - Attachment A). At this point the summary sheet has not been <br />��� modified but will be based on discussion and direction at the June 8t'' meeting. <br />During the discussion, there was a lot of feedback on the key outcome indicators (KOIs), targets and the <br />strategic initiatives. The full discussions are contained in the draft May l lth meeting minutes included <br />as Attachment B. <br />�� Staff has summarized the maj or points of conversation during the May ll t'' meeting to help guide the <br />City Council on further discussion. There are of course, other items that may need to be included to <br />� take into account public comments and additional thoughts from the City. Below are some points for <br />the City Council to consider and decide. <br />Civic En�a�ement <br />� • Volunteer Opportunities <br />o Should target be changed to focus inore on number of new volunteers attracted versus <br />the stated target of increasing volunteer opportunities by 5%? <br />• Community Satisfaction <br />o Should the community survey remain in Civic Engagement or be moved to the strategic <br />priority of Organizational Effectiveness or Effective Governance? <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
