Department Approval <br />Item Description <br />BACKGROUND <br />��� <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Proclaim August 4, 2015 `Night to Unite' <br />Date: 7/20/2015 <br />Item No.: 6.b <br />City Manager Approval <br />Night to Unite, sponsored by the MINNESOTA CRIME PREVENTION ASSOCIATION, is a <br />neighborhood crime prevention event that occurs annually on the first Tuesday in August and is <br />celebrated in hundreds of cities throughout Minnesota. A similar campaign, National Night Out, <br />takes place on the same evening in thousands of cities, towns and villages throughout the <br />Country. In addition to increasing awareness of crime prevention programs, Night to Unite <br />strengthens neighborhood spirit and community-police partnerships, while sending a message to <br />criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back against crime. <br />BUDGET IMPLICATIONS <br />Proclaiming August 4, 2015 as Night to Unite in Roseville will have no financial impact on the <br />city. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended the Council authorize the Mayor and City Manager to sign the Proclamation <br />designating August 4, 2015 as Night to Unite in Roseville. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION <br />Motion authorizing the Mayor and City Manager to sign the 2015 Night to Unite Proclamation. <br />Prepared by: Corey Yunke, Community Relations Coordinator, Roseville Police Department <br />Attachments: A: 2015 Night to Unite Proclamation <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
