The cost of the shuttle service would be in addition to the $2000 fee which is
estimated to be $1,000-$1,500. The estimated payroll costs for HRA stafftime would
approximately $2,000. The rough costs for this level of participation would be $5,500.
Promote other Home & Gaaden Fairs
Another option would be for the RHRA to promote other Home and Garden Fairs that
take place throughout the metro area and not do the Living Smarter Home and Garden
Fair in Roseville. The only cost for this alternative would be the staff time spent in
promoting the other fairs and any costs for preparing of materials. The rough cost
estimate is $1,500.
3.0 Staff Recommended Action
Staff recommends the HRA Board discuss the following options:
1. Continue doing "Living Smarter" Home & Garden Fair as is with RHRA staff
doing work.
2. Hire a third-party consultant to do the majority of the work witb assistance from
RHRA and other City staff.
3. Become a partner in the North Suburban Home & Garden Fair with RHRA staff
being part of the planning committee and attendance day of event.
4. Don't do the Living Smarter Home & Garden Fair and promote other Home
shows in the metro area.
5. Have the RHRA eliminate all Home and Garden Fair Activities.
Prepared by: Jeanne Kelsey (651-792-7086)
Attachment A: Costs of fair
Attachment B: Attendees' Feedback
Attachment C: Exhibitors' Feedback
Attachment D: Proposal for third-
party services
Attachment E: Associated Fair
Expenses
RHRA_ Discussion of Home and Garden Fair (8-03-I S) - Page 3 of 1
