USA <br />Law Enforcement Functions 2001I <br />Overall Objectives <br />Deliver quality police service based on community expectations and law enforcement service standards <br /> <br />Maintain community confidence in the department so as to attract the necessary resources to continue <br /> <br />the mission and enhance service delivery. <br />To create an atmosphere that deters individuals from committing offenses, and to reduce the <br /> <br />opportunities for criminal activity. <br />To investigate reported offenses in an effort to identify and apprehend those responsible <br /> <br />To respond effectively and efficiently to the needs of the public <br /> <br />2001 Work Plan <br />The work plan sets out the specific programs we foresee being instrumental in the Law Enforcement <br />function in achieving its overall objectives. <br />To establish and maintain polices and practices which maximize the Department’s ability to recruit, <br /> <br />develop, motivate and retain the best officers and staff, and enable those people to maximize their <br />potential <br />To improve the utilization of personnel ensuring coverage and efficient use of resources <br /> <br />To facilitate and expand the use of available community resources <br /> <br />To improve the ability of personnel to carry out their duties by providing the training necessary. <br /> <br />Specific Programs <br />The following specific programs are expected to be implemented in 2001. <br />Organize and operate the Fifth Annual Citizens Police Academy. <br /> <br />Organize and operate the Fourth Annual Youth Police Academy. <br /> <br />Career development and rotation for specific job specialties. <br /> <br />Work with the Administration, Council, and Community is an upgrade of physical facilities for law <br /> <br />enforcement. <br />Complete the introduction of a school resource officer into the Roseville elementary schools. <br /> <br />Develop a case disposition system to allow better tracking of cases allowing more and better <br /> <br />information for the public. <br />III-3 <br /> <br />
