They believe that smart growth solutions support businesses and jobs,
provide more options for people to get around, and make it more affordable for people to live
near where they work and shop. Their coalition works with communities to fight sprawl and
save money.
East Metro Strong is a public-private partnership of businesses, cities and counties working
together to bring more and better transit investment to the East Metro and catalyze job
growth and economic development opportunities.
On behalf of the SPACC and East Metro Strong, SGA has presented a proposal to conduct
two workshops:
Larpenteur Avenue (for St. Paul, Roseville, and Maplewood)
This workshop would focus on economic revitalization in the Larpenteur Avenue and
look at specific considerations and techniques needed for successful corridor
revitalization.
Ramsey County Revitalization
This workshop would focus on how to best position Ramsey County communities to
benefit from new trends in real estate and development as well as economic development
efforts in specific places.
Each workshop would begin with presentations on the keys to revitalizing economic centers.
Part of each worlcshop will also focus on the specific challenges in the communities. The
SGA proposal is attached for RHRA Board review (Attachment A).
Authorize contribution and participation in Smart Growth Workshops (08-18-15) - Page 1 of 2
