The RHRA was offered the following options: <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />33 <br />34 <br />35 <br />36 <br />37 <br />38 <br />39 <br />40 <br />41 <br />42 <br />43 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />Continue doing "Living Smarter" Home & Garden Fair as it has been done in the <br />past with RHRA staff doing the work to put on the Fair with participation from <br />various City departmental staff. <br />Hire a third-party consultant to do the majority of the work with assistance from <br />RHRA and other City staff. <br />Become a partner in the North Suburban Home & Garden Fair with RHRA staff <br />being a part of the planning committee and staffing a Roseville booth the day of <br />the event. <br />Discontinue the "Living Smarter: Home & Garden Fair and promote other Home <br />shows in the metro area to Roseville residents. <br />Have the RHRA eliminate all Home and Garden Fair Activities. <br />After discussion, the RHRA decided that the Fair is a time-intensive activity, and that it <br />may not be the best way to accomplish the strategic plan. The Board agreed that some <br />elements of the Fair, such as the educational workshops, were a good fit for the RHRA's <br />overall goals. The Board also decided to discuss the future of the Fair with the City <br />Council during its joint meeting on August 10, 2015. During that discussion, the Council <br />agreed that suspending the Fair seemed like the right direction for the RHRA to take. <br />The Council, however, encouraged the RHRA to continue to provide educational <br />workshops. Currently the RHRA hosts/sponsors 4-6 such workshops a year. Staff <br />recommends doing 8 total a year in the community related to sustainability, home <br />improvement and gardening. <br />3.0 Staff Recommended Action <br />Staff is recommending the RHRA Board formally eliminate the "Living Smarter" Home <br />& Garden Fair.
