Department Approval <br />Item Description: <br />BACKGROUND <br />��� <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />� a-�-�.r�__ <br />Date: 10/5/15 <br />Item No.: 8.g <br />City Manager Approval <br />Approve Terms of 2015-2017 IAFF Firefighters Contract <br />The City of Roseville now has four collective bargaining units, the Police Sergeants - Teamsters; <br />Police - LELS; Maintenance Workers - IUOE Loca149, and now the Fulltime Firefighters - <br />IAFF. The Firefighters are the first unit to settle beyond 2015 and this is their first contract. <br />There are 6 employees in the Fire bargaining unit. They perform a variety of fire and medical <br />response duties for the City. The City and the union have been negotiating since certification of <br />the unit on June 3rd of 2015 and the contract terms will be implemented upon ratification of this <br />contract. <br />� The City and union reviewed and compared ll other fire department contracts in the metro area <br />to negotiate this contract, as well as making internal comparisons. The Council has approved a <br />preliminary budget far 2016 with an increase of 2% for non-union employee wages. <br />City staff and union members from IAFF have met and found cominon ground for a settlement <br />on a contract that spans a little over two years. The settlement terms meet the parameters and <br />budget set by Council in closed session and during budget discussions. The membership has <br />voted to accept the contract terms with implementation upon City Council approval and effective <br />upon ratification. The following are the agreement terms: <br />1. CONTRACT DURATION: <br />➢ Term of slightly more than 2 years from ratification - 12/31/17 <br />2. WAGES: <br />➢ Starting wage of $19.36 effective 6/3/15 for fulltime Firefighters and $20.52 for <br />the Firefighter/Inspector. <br />➢ 2% increase to wages effective 1/1/16 for all classifications. <br />➢ 2% increase to wages effective 1/1/17 for all classifications. <br />3. INSURANCE: <br />➢ Same as City Council has provided to all other City staff. <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
