Sick leave benefits <br />may be paid in an amount such that the sick leave benefits plus the <br />Workers' Compensation benefits equal the normal pay received. <br /> <br />252.140. Funeral Leave of Absence. <br />In cases of serious illness or death in an employee's immediate <br />family, a regular employee's department head may authorize use of <br />sick leave benefits for such absences up to a maximum of three (3) <br />days for each emergency. For purposes of this section, immediate <br />family includes wife, husband, child, brother, sister, parents, <br />parents-in-law, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, brothers-in-law, <br />sisters-in-law, and relatives living in the same household as the <br />employee. <br /> <br />252.150. Family and Medical Leave. <br />Family and medical leave will granted according to the provisions <br />of state and federal law. <br /> <br />252.160. Special Leave. <br />The Manager may allow an employee special leave at full pay for <br />attendance at conferences benefiting the municipality. <br /> <br />252.170. Military Leave of Absence. <br /> <br />1. Military leaves of absence and reemployment of employees <br />returning from active service with the Armed Forces shall be <br />subject to applicable Federal and State legislation. <br /> <br />2 . <br /> <br />Upon return <br />employee will <br />still exists, <br />the duties of <br /> <br />from a military <br />be reinstated to <br />and the employee <br />the position. <br /> <br />leave of absence, a regular <br />his/her former position if it <br />is not incompetent to perform <br /> <br />3. Prior to <br />requesting leave under this section, an employee must first exhaust <br />all accrued paid leave. The leave may be extended beyond twelve <br />(12) weeks to a maximum of one year for reasons deemed appropriate <br />by the City Manager. No vacation or sick leave benefits shall <br />accrue during a period of leave of absence without pay. A leave of <br />absence without pay will be considered a break in service for <br />purposes of computing service credit if it exceeds twelve (12) <br />weeks. <br /> <br />7 <br />
