Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />May 20, 2015 <br />Page 8 of 10 <br />Commissioner Singleton reminded Commissioners that any recommendations to the State would <br />have to be discussed with the other members of the League of Human Rights. <br />New Business <br />a. Report on Recent Community Events/Invite to Upcoming Events <br />Chair Groff stated he had attended the Mental Health Training for the Police Department and he <br />felt this had been informative. He also attended the Northeast Youth and Family Services annual <br />event. This is a non-profit that works with mental health in youths. <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated she had attended the Roseville Area High School Grown in <br />America Passport and Program on April 29 and there was food from different ethnic groups. She <br />also attended the St. Paul Foundation "Facing Race Ambassador Award" on Apri128. <br />Commissioner Bachhuber stated she had attended the event for Roseville ACT on dementia and <br />Alzheimer's. She stated the Roseville Block Nurse Program Reinvention Task Force has a <br />survey they are encouraging seniors and other residents of Roseville to take part in. This survey <br />is on the City's website. <br />Commissioner Thao stated there would be a community celebration for Dr. Thein, the Roseville <br />Area School superintendent, who is retiring. <br />Ms. Collins stated the first finance session for Roseville U would be held on Thursday, May 21. <br />The first Police session and second finance session would be May 28. City Staff and the City <br />Council have been working on Priority Planning and the draft plan is available on the City <br />website. The City Council will be taking public input on this plan at their June 8 meeting. <br />b. St. Paul Foundation Grant <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated the St. Paul Foundation has announced a grant offer up to <br />$75,000. The deadline is June 30 and the winners will be notified in September. They are <br />looking for projects or planned initiatives that promote racial equity. These are things that could <br />tie in with the Human Rights Commission or this may offer a means for paying for expanding <br />the essay contest. <br />Chair Groff stated the mental health dialogues could be a possible iit into the criteria. <br />Chair's Report <br />Chair Groff did not have any additional updates. <br />
