<br />CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1142 <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 116 OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF ROSEVILLE RELATING TO MASSAGE THERAPY ESTABLISHMENTS. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Roseville, Minnesota, does <br /> <br />hereby ordain: <br /> <br />Chapter 116 of the City Code of the City of Roseville is <br /> <br />amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />116. Massaqe Therapv Establishments <br /> <br />116.010. Definitions. <br /> <br />1. The term IImessage therapy II means the rubbing, <br />stroking, kneading, tapping or rolling of the <br />body with the hands or other parts of the body <br />for the exclusive purposes of relaxation, <br />physical fitness, or beautification and for no <br />other purpose. <br /> <br />The practice of message therapy is hereby <br />declared to be distinct from the licensed <br />practice of medicine, osteopathy, chiroprac- <br />tic, physical therapy, podiatry, and nursing, <br />as well as athletic coaches and trainers. <br />Persons engaged in those professions are <br />exempt from the provisions of this ordinance. <br /> <br />2. The term IImessage therapist II means a person <br />who practices message therapy. <br /> <br />3. IIMassage Therapy Establishment II shall mean any <br />room or rooms wherein a person may receive a <br />massage from a 'massage therapist' for a fee. <br /> <br />4. IISanitaryll shall mean free from the vegetative <br />cells of pathogenic-micro-organisms. <br /> <br />116.020. License for Massaqe Therapy Establishment. <br /> <br />1. No person shall engage in the business of <br />operating a massage therapy establishment <br />within the City without first having obtained <br />the required license. <br /> <br />2. The initial application for a license shall be <br />made by completing an application form pro- <br />
