"
- KATIli DAVIS, ADMINISTRATOR
Trisha Johnson began spending time at Good Samaritan
Society–Newell at age 2, when she visited her great-grandma there.
Through the years, her visits to the center continued and she began
to volunteer and spend time with residents. For her service, Trisha
was named the Society's Volunteer of the Year.
Staff inembers sayTrisha gravitates toward people in need and is
always willing to lend a hand. For years, she has visited the center on
Christmas Eve, helping with the meal or singing Christmas songs.
They know they can call on her at the last minute to deliver food
to a Meals on Wheels client. She also helps with bingo and other
activities and assists the center's Helpers Club by picking up flowers
or balloons for residents on their birthdays.
Trisha says her favorite part about volunteering is getting to know
the residents and hearing their stories. "I just like the feeling of
making someone happy," Trisha says.
She will sit and listen to residents' concerns, read to them, laugh, cry
and pray with them.
– Story by Aubrey Gilbert
%
