On numerous <br />occasions, we received answers to our ongoing prayers for pleasant and positive <br />surprises in our resource development efforts. <br />In 2014, the Society received $16,536,549 in gifts. Our cost to raise a dollar was <br />28 cents. This amount exceeded the five-year gift average by more than $1.3 <br />million. Endowment funds invested at the Foundation grew from $50 million to <br />nearly $58 million, and had a one-year earnings rate of 7.89 percent. <br />The Good Samaritan Foundation Board and management, and the Good <br />THE EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN <br />Samaritan Society Board of Directors and management, are committed future <br />GOOD SAMARITAN FOUNDATION <br />growth in these resources. The Foundation's goals for 2015 reflect this and include: <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR <br />Charles M. Hiatt, Ph.D. <br />• Identifying 40 locations that are willing to develop a fully-engaged resource <br />development program. <br />• Demonstrating sustainable, exemplary stewardship of donors Society-wide. <br />• Identifying three to five locations for significant capital or endowment <br />campaigns. <br />• Enlarging efforts to seek mega gifts from individuals and secure grants for <br />Society-wide opportunities. <br />• Enhancing the high-impact capacity of the Foundation Board by strategic <br />board development and expansion. <br />I am deeply grateful for your partnership.
