Department Approval <br />�� � <br />�:i � <br />� <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />Date: 12/07/2015 <br />Item No.: 12.a <br />City Manager Approval <br />Item Description: Public Hearing to Consider Approving the 2016 Liquor License Renewals and <br />Issuance of a new On-Sale Wine License and an On-Sale 3.2% Liquor License <br />for the remainder of 2015 and all of 2016 to Friends Thai Burmese Restaurant <br />located at 1711 Rice Street. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Under City Code, a public hearing is required to consider approving liquor license renewals far the <br />following calendar year and new applications for the current year. The City has received the following <br />completed renewal applications for 2016: <br />� ❖ 3 Off Sale Intoxicating liquor licenses (maximum of 10 permitted under City Code) <br />❖ 5 On Sale Intoxicating liquor licenses <br />❖ 6 On Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor licenses <br />❖ 1 Off Sale 3.2 Non-Intoxicating Malt Liquor licenses <br />� ❖ 2 Club liquor licenses <br />� ❖ 5 Wine only liquor licenses <br />•'• 4 Brewery licenses <br />�� The Staff is anticipat�ng receiving apphcation matenals from Bent Brewstillery for Off-Sale Brewery, Off- <br />Sale Microdistillery and Taproom On-Sale with Sunday sales before the December 7th meeting. Assuming <br />�� that the city receives the application materials, staff will be asking for approval of Bent Brewstillery's <br />licenses <br />A detailed list of all liquor license renewals is included in Attachment A. <br />� The City has received the following completed applications for 2015 and 2016: <br />❖ Burmese Friends LLC, dba Friends Thai Burmese Restaurant — On-Sale Wine License <br />❖ Burmese Friends LLC, dba Friends Thai Burmese Restaurant — On-Sale 3.2% Liquor License <br />Neither State Statute nor City Code limits the number of licenses that can be issued for On-Sale Wine or <br />On-Sale 3.2% Liquor Licenses. <br />Burmese Friends LLC's application is included in Attachment B. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The regulation of establishments that sell alcoholic beverages has been a long-standing practice by the State <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />
