Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, November 16, 2015 <br />Page 17 <br />bution could be support for these veterans to obtain education once they're com- <br />ing out of military service; duly noted by Mr. Huffinan. <br />Councilmember Etten expressed appreciation for this program, and thanlced Mr. <br />Huffinan for bringing this to the Roseville City Council's attention and for his <br />worlc in coordinating all the pieces. Noting the financial gap commented on dur- <br />ing Mr. Huffinan's presentation, Councilmeinber Etten asked if there was a price <br />per unit gap to make this affordable for veterans. <br />Mr. Huffinan responded that the rent-to-buy figure of $100,000 was achieved <br />through fundraising, gift of land, in-king construction services, and cash gifts with <br />that representing the gap their organization was seeking to fill. <br />Councilmember Laliberte thanlced Mr. Huffman for his presentation, and noted <br />she had been fortunate enough to know about this prograin before tonight, but ap- <br />preciated her colleagues' input. Since this project proposed the potential for six <br />homes, Councilmember Laliberte asked if at some point some could be initiated <br />while filling further financial gaps. <br />Mr. Huffinan responded that it reinained to be seen, but he would not be surprised <br />if that happened. <br />Mayor Roe thanked Mr. Huffinan for his presentation, and invited him to return <br />as land was nailed down. At the request of Mayor Roe, City Manager Trudgeon <br />advised that he would get a copy of Mr. Huffinan's presentation for dissemination <br />to the City Council. <br />c. Presentation on Good Samaritan Homes Redevelopment Concept for 1415 <br />County Road B <br />The presenters provided five Good Sainaritan informational packets, updating <br />those included in the meeting materials submitted in the agenda packet. <br />Mayor Roe welcomed Susan Raper, Regional Vice President for the Good Samar- <br />itan Society in Minnesota; and Mary Stewart, Affordable Housing Financial De- <br />velopment Consultant for the Good Samaritan Society based in Denver, CO, but <br />serving this regional area. <br />Ms. Raper's formal presentation included a review of the previous facility and fii- <br />ture potential of the site based on informal and preliminary affordable housing op- <br />tion discussions to-date with City Manager Trudgeon and HRA Executive Direc- <br />tor Jeanne Kelsey. <br />Ms. Stewart reviewed maps included in meeting materials and amenities by cate- <br />gory in the area of a property, such as bus routes, services, civic facilities, educa- <br />tion opportunities, shopping, etc. <br />
