Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />September 16, 2015 <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />the two (2) Mental Health Forums, Civility Training, and the Youth Book Read. Work Items <br />would include the Essay Contest, hosting a Naturalization Ceremony; continue exploring hosting <br />additional community dialogues on mental health, aging, or the immigrant experience, exploring <br />what the Commission can do around the issue of voting and voting rights, and the HRC Award. <br />Commissioner Carey asked about the Tenants Responsibility videos that Ms. Collins was <br />involved with. <br />Ms. Collins stated the project has received over $90,000 and the video would be produced in five <br />(5) different languages and would be based on rental rights and responsibilities. The video is <br />currently in production mode and they are working on content. Any unused funds would be used <br />for community dialogues. The video is expected to begin airing in April, which is Fair Housing <br />Month. There could be things the HRC could do along with this release. She stated she would <br />talk with City Manager Trudgeon to find out if the Commission can discuss filling vacancies <br />with the Council. This may need to be an item far a separate portion of the meeting because the <br />joint meeting is a presentation meeting and the City Council would not be taking any actions. <br />Chair Groff requested Commissioners be prepared to discuss the projects and programs they <br />have worked on. <br />Ms. Collins stated there would also be a section for the Council to provide input on what they <br />would like to have the Commission work/focus on over the next year. <br />Commissioner Christiansen suggested including the Commission's vision and mission for the <br />Council. <br />Ms. Collins stated she would include the Commission's vision/mission along with the <br />responsibilities outlined in the City Code. <br />Chair's Report <br />Chair Groff stated he had no additional information to present. <br />Youth Commissioner Report <br />There were no Youth Commissioners present to provide a report. <br />Chair Groff suggested talking with Youth Commissioner Cederberg to find out if he wished to <br />continue. There are provisions that if a Commissioner missing more than two (2) meetings they <br />can be removed. <br />Staff Reuort <br />
