Human Rights Commission Minutes <br />September 16, 2015 <br />Page 5 of 7 <br />Commissioner Christiansen asked if the Roseville Human Rights Commission had ever <br />partnered with the State Department of Human Rights. <br />Chair Groff stated the Chair has come to past Commission meetings and he is available to <br />discuss potential projects with. He suggested informing the Department of the Community <br />Events and Dialogues the City hosts throughout the year. <br />New Business <br />a. Report on Recent Community Events/Review of Upcoming Events <br />Commissioner Slade stated Roseville Civility Training was scheduled for Saturday, September <br />19. <br />Chair Groff stated the Mental Health Community Conversation would be on Wednesday, <br />October 7. <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated the HRC Award Ceremony would be on Monday, October 5 <br />during the City Council meeting. <br />Ms. Collins stated the HRC's joint meeting with the City Council would also be on Monday, <br />October 5. <br />Chair Groff stated the Minnesota Humanities Center had a session on Public Spaces are Sacred <br />Places, which was focused on all voices being heard. <br />Commissioner Carey stated the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission sent information on <br />their Coffee and Cultural Chat on Thursday, September 17. <br />Chair Groff suggested if the format worked, it could be something that the City could work to <br />reproduce for Roseville residents. <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated Roseville University still had sessions available. The next <br />session is the Fire Department and will be on Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, <br />September 23. The 2015 Overcoming Racism Conference Vigilance Now will be on November <br />13 and 14 at Metropolitan State University. <br />b. Discuss Items for Upcoming Joint Meeting with City Council <br />Commissioner Christiansen stated the Commission was going to ask the City Council what they <br />would like to have the Commission work on as well. <br />Ms. Collins stated there is a template that the City uses for joint meetings. The Commission <br />would review the Essay Contest, the Naturalization Ceremony, the Parade, the Selma viewing, <br />
