Upon request, the City Recycling Coordinator will undertake efforts <br />to educate the resident or owner regarding proper materials <br />preparation. <br />Multi -unit dwellings <br />Contaminated carts or dumpsters of material will not be collected and <br />a tag, if available, will be left indicating the reason the material is <br />unacceptable. The Contractor shall also notify the City Recycling <br />Coordinator within one business day by phone that the material was <br />left and the reason that the material was unacceptable. It will be the <br />responsibility of the Contractor to obtain cooperation from the <br />building owner/manager in removal of trash and separation of <br />acceptable materials so that the carts can be serviced. <br />Zero Waste Events <br />Roseville holds four Zero Waste events each year at which organic <br />material is collected for composting: <br />• Earth Day Celebration, 3`d Saturday in April <br />• Taste of Rosefest, 4"' Thursday in June <br />• Run for the Roses, 4u' Saturday in June <br />• Wild Rice Festival, 2°d Saturday in September <br />The contractor shall be responsible for attending the events to <br />monitor the collection stations, and educate residents. All material <br />(organic, recyclables, trash) collected shall be the responsibility of <br />the Contractor for appropriate processing, or disposal. Organics shall <br />be disposed of at a permitted organics composting facility. <br />As part of their Value Added Plan, Proposers are encouraged to <br />describe their experience conducting Zero Waste events. <br />Curbside Collection of Residential Organics <br />The City may consider the option to offer curbside organics (food <br />N66, waste and non -recyclable paper) collection during the term of the <br />agreement. Proposers should address in their Value Added Plan, <br />including cost and collection method, a proposal for curbside <br />collection of organics. The City retains the rights to initiate <br />negotiations with the Contractor to implement curbside organics <br />collection. <br />The City allows small businesses and faith organizations to opt -in to <br />the City's recycling program through an application process. To opt - <br />in, organizations and businesses need to send in an application to the <br />City, have a similar composition to a Single Unit Dwelling (SUD), <br />and be able to recycle materials in a 96 gallon recycling cart. If these <br />requirements are met, the City will approve the opt -in application <br />19 <br />
