State project areas. Those replacements are being identified from recent utility inspections
and adjustments to the plan will be communicated to the Council at a later date. To date city
staff has identified watermain replacements on Heinel Drive, Terrace Drive and Farrington
Street.
The City is looking into possibly lining the watermain as an option instead of standard pipe
replacement on Heinel Drive. The City is looking into this process as it may save some
construction impacts due to the long dead end road and also save on storm water impacts
near the lake.
The City will also be replacing the sanitary sewer forcemain for the Dale Street Lift Station
and the Galtier St Lift Station. Both these forcemains are well over 50 years old.
Lift Station: The Cleveland Sanitary Sewer Lift Station, located at Cleveland Ave and
Brenner Ave, is recommended for replacement in 2016. The lift station was constructed in
1987. The estimated cost of this replacement is about $522,000
Storm Sewer system improvements: The City is working to finalize a joint project with the
Capitol Region Watershed District at Upper Villa Ballfields (B -Dale Club). This facility will
also be an underground storage and reuse facility.
Staff is working on replacement of the St Croix storm sewer lift station located along St.
Croix Street south of Terminal Road. Project started in the fall of 2015 and should be
completed by spring of 2016.
Staff continues to analyze the existing drainage systems and localized flooding issues and is
identifying mitigation projects. Staff is now working on developing a 2016 drainage
improvement project to alleviate some of these flooding concerns. Staff hasalready
identified several projects for 2016. Some of the projects include;
Storm Pond Maintenance — Work involves removing sediment that has built up in
the ponds to provide better capacity and treatment. Valley Park ponds and the
Byerly's pond are scheduled for 2016.
Eldridge Backyards — This is a second phase to the Corpus Christi project area.
Currently there is a high water table due to a historically filled wetland. The high
water table (approximately 30" below grade) is causing neighboring single family
homes to flood during heavy rains. A drain -tile will be installed approximately
10' below grade in an existing swale between the homes and Evergreen Park.
The drain -tile will be connected to the storm sewer under Fairview Ave, and
should lower the high groundwater through the immediate area.
This existing pond located near Oakcrest Ave, east of Fairview is an existing
storm pond with a concrete ditch captures water from Rosedale Commons, and
provides rate control during large rain events. The pond will be retrofitted to have
an Iron Enhanced Sand Filter bench around the perimeter. This filter bench will
provide similar rate control, but it will increase the removal of pollutants that
degrade our local water resources. The addition of this project will help the City
meet a Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for Long Lake.
Owasso Private Drive — Currently South Owasso Private Drive consists of a
gravel driving surface.
