For field appiied copper jumpers, either � <br />the "�urnd��ThermoN�ld", as supplied by Surndy Corporation, Norwalk, <br />Connecticut, or "Caldweld", by Erico Pr�duets Company, Cleveland, Ohio <br />wfll be permitted. <br />Contractors or suppliers shall submit the method they propose to use <br />for approval p.rior to oonstruction. <br />The capper jumper shall be a minimum 1/i6" � 1/2" wide flat <br />strip or equal crogs section round copper wire in the annealed <br />cotidition conforming to A�TM Specifioation B152-58 Type DHP. <br />All copper jumpers shall be welded to the pipe and fittings by the <br />metallic-arc welding process, if shop rpplied or by the exothermic <br />welding process if fi�ld applied. <br />The copper jumper can be applaed as a single strip welded at eaeh end <br />� ac,:�oss the jaint or by multiple strips with bolted connections in the <br />middle. Silicon bronze balts and nuts shall be used on all Uolted <br />connections. <br />� <br />� <br />O <br />� <br />Al1 welded canneetions shall be made on a clean metal surface which has <br />been ground to remove coating and oxide. The area at the connection, <br />including 'the weld, shall be reffnished wit,h its ariginal coating ar <br />other suitable proteetive coatings specified. <br />The asssmbled copper jumper across the jaints shall be so installed <br />that expansion9 contraetion, or relative pipe movement incidental to <br />normal service use will not damage the connection to sueh an Extent <br />that electrical resist�nce will vary across the joint. <br />The completed watermain system shall b� tested for electrical <br />conductivity aecording to that stated ir� tzsting in these <br />specif ications. <br />0 <br />
