In the event the test in the vpinion of <br />the Engineer proves unsatisfactory, chlorination shall be repeated <br />until a satisfactory condition of the water Wi�hin the pipe is <br />established. <br />Unless the Engineer shall d�.•�et otherwise, cuts made in existing pipe � <br />lines for the insertion oi valves� fittings, repairs� or for any other <br />pur�pose shall be chlorinated by shaking a quantity of the powder, <br />predetermined by the Engineer, into the pipe on eaeh side af the cut- <br />in. After sloWly filling the section and reversing the flow, the <br />chlorinated w�ater shall be retained for several. hours then fTushed <br />until no odor of chlorine can be detected in the waste water� or <br />preferably until a check shall have been made for residual chlorine. <br />Contractors are cautioned to use _extreme care in testinQ. disinfection <br />and flushinQ to prevent excessive wastinR of water since the �rater <br />beinQ used is purchased from the Citv af St• Paul.
