No deviation from the required line or grade <br />will be allowed except with the conseat of the Engineer. <br />, �, <br />�' <br />� <br />�. <br />Trench excavation and bedding preparations shall proceed ahead of pipe <br />placement as Will permit proper plaaement and joining of the pipe and <br />fittings at the preseribed grade and alignment Without unnecessary � <br />hindrance. Every reasonable precaution shall be taken to prevent <br />foreign materials from entering the pipe While it is being placed in <br />the line, The pipe, manhole and catch basin materials shall be <br />carefully loNered into laying position by the use of suitable <br />restraining devices. Under no circumstances shall the pipe be dropped <br />or dumped into the trench. <br />Before being loNered into laying position, the Contractor shall make a <br />thorough visual inspection of each pipe section and appurtenant units <br />to detect damage, foreign matter needing removal� or unsound conditions <br />that may need corrective action or be cause far rejection. Inspection <br />procedure shall be as approved by the Engineer, with special methods <br />being required as he deems necessary to eheck out suspected defeets <br />more definitely. The Contractor shall inform the Engineer of any <br />defeets discovered and the Engineer will prescribe the required <br />corrective actions or order rejection,and prompt remavaJ. from the site. <br />Immediately before placement, the joint surfaces of each pipe section <br />and fitting shall be inspected for the presence of foreign matter, <br />coating blisters, rough edges or projections, and any imperfections so <br />detected shall be correeted by eleaning, trimming, or repair as needed. <br />All pipe shall be layed using grade boards, furnished and set by the <br />� Contractor according to the grade atakes established by th� Engineer or <br />his representative. No pipe shall be laid unless there is a minimum of <br />�� four grade boards set to check the proper grade and alignment ahead. <br />The Contractor shall provide and use a suitable grade rod to insure the <br />� proper grade of the pipe. Grade Boards shall be no more than 25 feet <br />apart. The Contractor may use laser equipment in lieu of grade boards <br />and strings to set pipe grade and alignment. Hoaever, the Contractor <br />shall check the grades at a frequeney not to exceed 100 feet. The <br />Contractor shall provide competent workmen to operate the laser <br />equipment. <br />� <br />� <br />
