Our design intentions for the landscape wall nehesCvraPlanningtly,
we attempted to address concerns you raised i Y
meeting held on October 2, 1985. At that time,
the City instructed
us to provide only one access point into thedivewadandefree Your
property and to also eventually abandon the Y ro eci'.
standing garages located at the southeast corner of the p J
You in turn, expressed concern over that decision and raised
questions as to the impact of that traffic flow going past your
house. We consequently added return segmentste andScePeaWbuffer
flanking both sides of ite entry drive to bet p
between your house and the drive.
Secondiy, after great concern was expressed by both the City and
Pointe's marketing staff on the negative appearance of the Forum
Apartment and its free-standing garages, a decbetlerascreenhthe
to construct the wall to a height of 6 feet t
project from the neighborhood and, in effect make the existing
complex more presentable.
You expressed your disagreement with our design and told us that,
in your words, we must be asinine for thin{ing that the (and-
scape walf'Icould hic+e the 9oua9feelingshareathatethedoverabuild-
ing was a Berlin Wall .
height of the return legs of debeaableaPo seeloveUthebwaeduced
to such a height that you wou
from inside your home.
3, We wn-t on to discuss the facts that the landscape wall is cur-
rently in its roughest looking state since final steps such as
"washing down" the wall have not been done and that final grad-
ing along the landscape wall needs to be done.
Steps recently taken in hope that we would be addressing some of
your and the City's concerns have been to add additional land-
scaping along the Hamline Avenue side of the wall that will
creare a continuous green hedge along the base of the wall. Ivy
has been added to the Forum side of the wall and dogwood hedges
have been added behind the pier elements on either side of the
main entry drive to give additional landscape detail.
We concluded the meeting by informing you that we would review the
above with our Client and convey as best we could your feelings on
the landscape wall and that we would contact you again ifi our
Client wishes to take some action on this matter.
0
