0
. _
FF'cEDtRICK BENTZ MILC. THOMPSON ROBERT RIETOW INC
..
Janury 15, 1988
ORUM AF'ARTMENT SCREEN b•JALL
2545 North Hamline Avenue
Rosev i I I e, h1 i nnesola 551 13
NARRATIVE
On December 10, 1987, a meeting was held at Roseville City Hall
with Ciy sfiaff to discuss the Forum Apartment screen aall. Staff
informed both thQ Developer, Pointe Development Corporation, and
the Architect, Benfiz/T'hompson/Rietow, Inc., of concerns for i-he
aesthetics of the recently constructed screen wall. During the
course of our conversations, it was pointed out thai- the ►vall is
more than .likely, in its roughest looking state, lacking the bene-
fits of being a finalized product.
The major finishing element will be the landscaping surrounding
the ti•iall. A preliminary landscaping plan was revieved during the
meeTing and City staff made several recommendaions for revisions
involving additional landscaping. The current plan has taken into
accoun-h staff's recommendations and incorporaed them into thE
design. The major landscaping elements added to the project •ere
focused on the Hamline Avenue side of the wall and included prin-
cipally an arborvitae hedge and a row of ash trees to provide a
conrinuous "green" base for the wall. Ivy has been added to the
Forum side of the wall and dogwooci hedges have been added behind
he pier elements on either side of the main entry drive to give
additional landscaping detail.
We were then asked by City staff to submit a rendered landscape
plan for review at this work session.
